Our Story

Touhenboku Ramen was born out of a deep love for Japanese culture and cuisine. Our founder, Zuimei Okuyama, who is a passionate ramen enthusiast, wants to share the authentic flavours of Japan with their community. With a vision to create a unique dining experience, they particularly crafted every aspect of Touhenboku Ramen to reflect the art of ramen making.​

Tomo is our friendly and playful mascot! He loves bringing joy and excitement to everyone. We are proud to have Tomo as a lovely member of our Tohenboku family, and we invite you to meet him at Touhenboku! He is a ramen lover and enjoys taking pictures with any of you!

Meet Our Founder

Zuimei Okuyama

Zuimei Okuyama is the founder of Touhenboku Ramen. With a deep passion for Japanese cuisine, Okuyama founded the restaurant in 2009 with the goal of bringing authentic ramen to Toronto. Born and raised in Japan, Okuyama honed his ramen-making skills from renowned ramen masters across the country. He is known for his unwavering dedication to excellence and commitment to using only the freshest, highest-quality ingredients. Okuyama's innovative flavors and techniques have earned Touhenboku Ramen a reputation as a trailblazer in the ramen scene. His vision and passion continue to drive the success of the restaurant, making it a beloved destination for authentic ramen lovers.

At Touhenboku Ramen, we share our love for tori-paitan style soup made according to Japanese tradition. Touhenboku Ramen promises a hearty, rich and flavourful experience.
